About Kirkwood Pediatrics

Kirkwood Pediatrics is a new outpatient clinic opening in mid-October. We are passionate about providing high-quality, personalized care that children and families can trust. Our practice is intentionally small to ensure continuity of care and long-term relationships with our patients.

Our culture is rooted in compassion, listening, trust, science, and hard work. Every member of our team shares a commitment to these values and to building a lasting service that families can count on.

About the Role

We are seeking a hybrid Medical Assistant / Front Desk Admin to join our founding team. This is a unique role that blends clinical care, patient support, and office management. You will work closely with our founding physician and play a key role in shaping the systems, workflows, and culture of our clinic.

This position is ideal for someone who:

  • Enjoys creating and improving systems, not just following established ones

  • Thrives in a dynamic, startup-like environment

  • Loves working with families and providing both excellent care and excellent service

  • Wants to help build something meaningful from the ground up

Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Obtain vitals and support patient flow

  • Administer vaccines and standard medications (including IM Ceftriaxone)

  • Perform in-house and point-of-care lab testing (finger stick hemoglobin/lead, viral and bacterial swabs, urine/stool testing, etc.)

Administrative & Office Management

  • Manage scheduling via phone, text, and online portal

  • Verify insurance eligibility and process referrals

  • Collect and process payments

  • Handle medical records (faxing, filing, documentation)

  • Maintain clinic supply inventory

  • Coordinate with outside partners (labs, specialists, vendors)

Front Desk & Patient Support

  • Greet families and manage check-in/check-out

  • Respond to patient inquiries with professionalism and warmth

  • Help create a welcoming, supportive, family-friendly environment

Qualifications

  • Current certification: CMA (Certified Medical Assistant), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant), or LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse)

  • 5+ years of experience in pediatric medical assisting, office management, or a similar role (strong candidates with fewer years but relevant experience may be considered)

  • Proficiency in pediatric patient care, vaccine administration, and in-house labs

  • Strong organizational, administrative, and multitasking skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially with children and families

  • CPR/BLS certification preferred

Why this Would be a Great Fit

  • You enjoy a balance of direct patient care and behind-the-scenes organization

  • You’re excited to be part of a new clinic and help shape its foundation, systems, and patient experience

  • You thrive in a small, close-knit, mission-driven team where your ideas matter

  • You are passionate about pediatrics and find joy in supporting children and families

  • You value stability, daytime hours, and opportunities to grow with a new practice

Why this May Not be a Good Fit

  • You prefer an established clinic with set systems already in place

  • You want a role focused only on clinical or only on administrative tasks

  • You prefer to work independently rather than in a collaborative startup environment

  • You’re not energized by problem-solving, learning new things, or taking initiative

  • You don’t love patient care and family interaction

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • 401(k) retirement plan

  • Paid time off (PTO) and federal holidays

  • Bonus and revenue-sharing opportunities
